Map of the south-east of England

Gravesend is situated in North Kent on the South bank of the river Thames. It lies close to the A2, approximately 25 miles east of London and about 40 miles west of Canterbury. When travelling from the north or west, the route to Gravesend will be via the M25. Exit at junction 2, turning east onto the M2 towards Dover and Canterbury.

When travelling from the west on the A2, take the junction after the Gravesend junctions, signposted “Thong”, “Chalk” and “The Inn on the Lake”. Turn left at the end of the slip road into Thong Lane. Cascades Leisure Centre is 1 mile after joining Thong Lane.

If approaching on the A2 from the east, take the junction signposted “Cobham” and “Shorne”. Take third exit from the roundabout at the end of the slip road signposted “The Inn on the Lake”. After several hundred yards beware of the traffic lights controlling the single lane across the bridge. After crossing the bridge, go right then immediately left into Thong Lane. Cascades Leisure Centre is 1 mile after joining Thong Lane.

The GMMES track is situated in Thong Lane on the same site as the Cascades Leisure centre. There is ample free car parking and if the younger members of your party need a rest from steam train rides (unlikely), a play area with swings and slides is close by.

There is also a public house for the adults adjacent to the Leisure Centre and pleasant walks to the rear of the golf driving range.
